Even in the third day, the strike continued and so today I chose to spend my time with some movies. I watched a movie “Before Sunrise”. It was a realistic love story between an American tourist Jessie and a French student Celene
Before Sunrise is basically a one day story of two people with a whole day before them to spend before sunrise. These two people meet on a train in Europe and coincidentally happen to talk with each other for some hours. These few hours of talk make them so intimate that Jessie proposes Celene to spend that day with him in Vienna as he has to catch an early flight tomorrow morning. Celene already overwhelmed by this stranger accepts it and they spend a day with lifetime memories together. Two strangers on the train become intimately intertwined with each other. The film is a conversation. They talk about the normal things as any other people like their family, their affairs, their likes and dislikes and many more. Knowing the bitter reality of departure, they both tried their best to make each moment memorable rather than relenting on it.
They both are so into each other but both are pessimistic on the issue of long-lasting relationship. According to them, when the people start sharing more and more time with each other, they start to count on the negative things and ultimately leave both unhappy. Their belief was even more strengthened by the fighting and arguing couple they had met in the train. Thats why, they didn’t wish their relationship to be as of them. They didn’t exchange any contact details with each other. However, when finally the moment of separation came, they could not resist and they promised each other to meet at the same place 6 months later.
Sometimes in life you trust some stranger so easily. There is this trust which comes automatically from inside. Chemistry between these two people in the movie is worth watching. However, sometimes in the middle I felt the movie monotonous and I was just waiting for the end, what will happen at last?? Moreover, I like the simplicity in the story and the messages of their conversation.
Watching this movie, I remembered a debate on “love-arrange” marriage I had participated in. While talking about the long-lastingness of love, we had arugued the rate of divorce rate being high in love marriage than in arrange marriage. Regarding its cause, we mentioned that, during the first session of love, both girl and boy try to impress each other so much and they put their best. However, in the later days, they realise that they cannot be best always and start to discover their flaws which ultimately leads to divorce. I am also not so much an optimistic person in regard to the long lasting relationship. I think there are few people who are engaged to this sort of relationship.
